Berlin - Siegessaule (Triumphal Column).

This column was built to commemorate victory in the Prusso-Danish war of 1864.After further Prussian victories against Austria and France a guilded figure representing Victory was added to the top. Originally erected outside the Reichstag it was moved to its current location by the Nazi’s in 1938. We were told by our guide that the gold decoration in four rows up the column are in fact cannons captured during the wars commemorated.
