On top of the Brandenburg Gate is the famous sculpture Quadriga by Johann Gottfried Shadow.
During Napoleon Bonapart’s occupation of the city the sculpture was taken to Paris and on its return in 1814 declared a symbol of victory, the goddess was given a staff bearing the Prussian Eagle and an iron cross with laurel wreath adornment.
